The Sky Blue Year: August

Coventry City made a solid start to life under Aidy Boothroyd as the Championship season began in August with a home win against relegated Portsmouth, earned by a Freddy Eastwood double.

The striker had struggled for goals throughout his two previous seasons with the club but was determined to make a fresh start under Boothroyd.

"When you go a time without scoring, and when you are not playing regularly, your confidence does dip, said Eastwood. 'I work with Steve Harrison a lot - he is a good man to have around and is very experienced.

"I have also had a few chats with the gaffer and he believes in my ability, and as a player you want nothing more.

"The gaffer expects us to do great things
this season, and after the first few pre-season games he has got us believing it as well."

A televised home win over Derby, a late fightback to earn a point at Watford and defeat at Millwall left the Sky Blues in the top half at the end of the month. A second string City side meanwhile crashed out of the League Cup at Morecambe.
