Sky Blues slip to Oakwell defeat

Even Coventry City's happy hunting ground failed to come up trumps on Monday as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Barnsley.

Freddy Eastwood's second goal in two games equalised an early wonder strike for the Tyles but Lovre netted a second half winner.

A festive return of just one point from four games and a league position of 12th probably paints a truer picture of where the Sky Blues are under Aidy Boothroyd after his first months in charge and the City boss will be looking to reinvigorate his charges over the next week or so, perhaps dipping into the loan market to freshen up his squad.

"I am very disappointed. You can't start a game the way we did," was his reaction to the defeat. "The goals we conceded were very poor. We didn't create enough to win the game."

"For where we are that was a very poor. We didn't attack them enough, we had periods where we dominated them but we didn't get the ball behind them."
