Ex-City pair split up for Saturday

Former Coventry City central defenders Elliott Ward and Leon Barnett have formed a fruitful partnership for Norwich City in recent months but the pairing will not be together for Saturday's trip to their old club.

Barnett, who spent a spell on loan with the Sky Blues last season, is with Norwich on a similar basis but is proving more impressive in East Anglia and will join permanently from West Brom in January.

He however is suspended for the Ricoh Arena clash after picking up a fifth yellow card of the season against Portsmouth. Barnett was later sent off and has now been charged by the FA for dissent shown towards the referee.

Ward meanwhile, a big money Coventry signing from West Ham in 2006 and veteran of over 100 league appearances for the club, is enjoying a new lease of life in Norfolk after being frozen out by Chris Coleman during the final few months of his Sky Blues contract.
