'If It's Football, It's Vital'

King of the Ricoh keeps City flying

A tale of two penalties at the Ricoh Arena saw Marlon King break his Sky Blue duck and keep Coventry City firmly in the play-off picture.

Keiren Westwood had earlier saved a Leroy Lita spot-kick before King held his nerve from 12 yards to net the only goal of a hard-fought clash with Middlesbrough.

Aidy Boothroyd's side now have a very healthy haul of 33 points from 20 games and the manager felt his players had done well to 'grind out a result' despite a below-par performance.

"We have got players in the team who no matter how we play will create and score goals and that is what the story is about today," said the Ricoh Arena boss while opposite number Tony Mowbray cut a frustrated figure, commenting: "We didn't really feel threatened, particularly in the second half. We are very disappointed to lose a game we didn't think we should have done but there you go, that's football, you have to look at the positives."
