Scunthorpe keen to strengthen for City clash

Scunthorpe United manager Ian Baraclough has been hit by a defensive injury crisis ahead of Saturday's home game against Coventry City and is looking to make a loan signing ahead of Thursday afternoon's deadline for emergency deals to be done.

Rob Jones is the Iron's only fit centre-half at present and top target Michael Morrison will now stay at Leicester City.

'It was indicated to me that he would be allowed to come out on loan, but they have since changed their mind,' Baraclough told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

'That's an example of clubs being willing to let players go, the player wants to leave, but then they decide for the last six or seven games until the January window, they want to keep them.'

The Sky Blues meanwhile have allowed left-back Chris Hussey to join Crewe on loan ahead of the deadline.
