Promotion chasing Queens Park Rangers have boosted their squad for the busy period of games to come by signing Cypriot midfielder Georgios Tofas on a free transfer until the end of the season.

Across London, Crystal Palace, currently propping up the division, are being linked with an ambitious move to land striker James Vaughan, currently on loan at the club from Everton, on a permanent deal in January.

New Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray has denied that West Brom forward Ishmael Miller, a confirmed loan target for Ipswich Town, is on his wanted list.

Leicester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson meanwhile is set to run the rule over former Bayern Munich goalkeeper Michael Rensing in the near future while Bristol City have allowed Lewin Nyatanga to join Peterborough United on loan.

Wanted in the top-flight according to press reports is Darren Pratley of Swansea City, a target for both Wigan Athletic and Newcastle United.
