'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Eriksson added to Championship big names

After parting company with Paulo Sousa after just nine league games in charge, Leicester City are set to unveil Sven Goran Eriksson as manager very soon, with the Swede poised to sign a two-year contract.

Sousa received his marching orders after seeing the Foxes sink to the bottom of the table, despite his side having looked very impressive in their fixture at the Ricoh Arena recently.

Chairman Milan Mandaric told BBC Radio 5 Live: 'If you play nine games in the league and you win just one, it is not good enough. I have a lot of time for Paulo, he is a great football man, but it didn't work out for him.

'I have to work in the interest of the club and, if you continue like we are, we will be fighting relegation instead of going for promotion.'

Eriksson's potential arrival reflects the growing appeal of the Championship, the division having already seen the arrival of Craig Bellamy and Edgar Davids this season.
