'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hull boss: We're better than that

Hull City host Coventry City on Saturday with both sides looking for a good result to keep spirits high during the international break.

The KC Stadium fixture marks the 10th game of the Championship season and the Tigers' hopes of an immediate return to the top-flight have been hit by some inconsistent displays, notably in their midweek hammering at Burnley.

'I know we are better than Tuesday night,' said manager Nigel Pearson, quoted in the Hull Daily Mail as he looks for his side to tighten up at the back and show more of a threat going forward.

'I've said what I've needed to say on Tuesday night and then again on Wednesday morning but it's now about making sure we're ready for the game.

'You've got to put to bed the previous game and move on to the next one.'

A late, late goal from Hull striker Caleb Folan settled the last meeting between the two sides at the KC Stadium in January 2008.
