New assistant manager for City

Coventry City have appointed Martyn Pert as assistant manager to Aidy Boothroyd. He is 32 years old and has experience at Fulham and Norwich, having also worked with Boothroyd at Watford.

His appointment does not affect City's current backroom staff with Steve Harrison remaining as first team coach.

Boothroyd said: 'This is a very good appointment for us and we are delighted to have Martyn on board. He is a qualified coach'

Sports scientist Pert leaves his job as head of conditioning at Vicarage Road to take up the role at the Sky Blues.

Boothroyd meanwhile was pleased with Marlon King's display in a behind closed doors fixture on Tuesday and may throw the striker into the weekend clash with Leicester if he signs a Sky Blues deal in time.
