Championship loses its first manager

Championship loses its first manager

Bristol City will be led by Keith Millen when they host Coventry City on 18 September after Thursday's shock news that Steve Coppell, in charge of the Robins for just two competitive games, is leaving the club and retiring for good from management after over 1,000 games.

'I found I could not become passionate about the role and give the commitment the position demands,' the 55-year-old told the official club website.

'I appreciate that the timing of my departure is not ideal, but I believe it is best for the club.'
