City flounder at the Globe

The Sky Blues, making 10 changes from Saturday's starting eleven were deservedly beaten tonight by Morecambe in the first game in their new 12 million pound stadium.

Conceding goals on 46 and 61 minutes the Sky Blues never looked like getting back into the cup-tie and were made to look second best by a positive 'Shrimpers' team.

None of the Sky Blues on display will have forced their way into Saturday's team for the visit to Watford.

I can see why Aidy Boothroyd made so many changes, so he could get a look at the other players, but he also made a statement by doing this saying we not interested in the cup. I didn't go but it sounded woeful on the radio. What made it worse was having to listen to Dave Bennett slag everyone as usual, he does my head in!!!

a good following from the Sky Blues but after no problems up to 46 mins they did not have a plan B
