'If It's Football, It's Vital'

It's that time again!

No matter how the previous season has ended, the opening match of the new campaign still manages to get the blood pumping and after a steady summer of new arrivals, started by manager Aidy Boothroyd, Coventry City have enjoyed a low-key build-up to this Saturday's game against Portsmouth.

The new manager has managed to pull some rabbits out of the transfer hat, a fact acknowledged by Neil Moxley, writing in the Daily Mail, where he states: 'I have to say I've been quietly impressed by Boothroyd's signings' and goes on to give 'grudging credit' to Ray Ranson and SISU for providing the money when the club is still unlikely to be breaking even.

Seven new arrivals plus the return of Michael Doyle will ensure decent competition for places and hopefully a sharper, pacier style of play with some genuine width to boot.

A mid-table finish would be progress after two seasons of 19th-place finishes but some goals and entertainment would also not go amiss.

Play up Sky Blues!
