Sky Blues versus...Crystal Palace

Coventry City enter their 10th successive season at Championship level with another new manager at the helm in the shape of Aidy Boothroyd.

The former Watford and Colchester boss will lead his new team into action against 23 opponents, who Vital Coventry will be looking at over the next few weeks.

Head-to-head: 18 meetings between the two sides since the turn of the century have seen the Sky Blues triumphant on just 5 occasions.

The Eagles have enjoyed their trips to the Ricoh Arena since its opening, winning there 4 times, drawing the other game and scoring 13 times in the process.

Transfer dealings: Clinton Morrison, recently released by the Sky Blues, followed in the footsteps of Dele Adebola (2003) by arriving on a free transfer from Selhurst Park in the summer of 2008.

One year earlier, Iain Dowie had delved into his Palace past to sign Michael Hughes and Gary Borrowdale from the South Londoners.

James Scowcroft made a 500,000 move in the opposite direction in 2006, Wayne Andrews making the reverse trip up to the Midlands.

The man in charge Paul Hart kept the Eagles in the Championship following their 10-point deduction and Neil Warnock's subsequent departure but next season's fortunes will be in the hands of George Burley after his appointment as manager.

Palace favourite Dougie Freedman will assist his fellow Scot.
