Sky Blues versus...Barnsley

Coventry City enter their 10th successive season at Championship level with another new manager at the helm in the shape of Aidy Boothroyd.

The former Watford and Colchester boss will lead his new team into action against 23 opponents, who Vital Coventry will be looking at over the next few weeks.

Head-to-head: Barnsley at home or away have been City's favourite opponents during their time in the Championship.
The sides have met 10 times since 2001 and the Tykes have yet to gain a victory.

The Sky Blues have also managed to score 4 times against the South Yorkshire side on 4 separate occasions.

Transfer dealings: Michael Mifsud ended the 2008/09 season on loan at Oakwell as he approached the end of his Coventry contract but did not remain at the club last year. Similarly, goalkeeper Gavin Ward made a temporary move north in the 2003/04 campaign.

The man in charge Mark Robins succeeded Simon Davey as manager in September last year and made an immediate impression.

Big things are expected of the former Manchester United man and Barnsley fans will be hoping for a top-half finish next season.
