Next City boss: Irvine to swap S6 for CV6?

Alan Irvine is the latest name to be thrown into the next Coventry City manager hat, reports on Thursday suggesting he could swap relegated Sheffield Wednesday for the Ricoh Arena next season.

Irvine generally escaped copping the flak for Wednesday's relegation, with fans pinning the blame on a combination of former boss Brian Laws and the failure to make any loan signings ahead of the transfer deadline.

Although he has spoken with anticipation of the big challenge ahead at Hillsborough, Irvine is still working under tight financial conditions as much-anticipated talk of new investment into the Sheffield club remains unconfirmed.

His stock at former club Preston North End also remains high and saw the Scot receive a warm ovation when returning to Deepdale with the Owls last season.
