'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Next City boss: Mowbray attracts the money

The race has begun to become the next Coventry City manager, with chairman Ray Ranson suggesting his phone has been 'red-hot' since parting company with Chris Coleman on Monday night.

The lack of an obvious favourite have already seen a number of different potential bosses mentioned in despatches but now the first serious money has come in to the bookmakers' markets.

Tony Mowbray, experienced in the Championship with West Brom but smarting from his short-lived stay at Celtic is the man being written down on betting slips not too far away from the Ricoh Arena according to Sky Bet.

Football betting spokeswoman Helen Jacob said: 'Judging by the number of bets from the Coventry and Warwickshire area, there must be whispers around the Ricoh that Mowbray is a contender.'

Elsewhere, Sky Sports are claiming that 32-year-old Eddie Howe, fresh from working miracles under a transfer embargo at Bournemouth, is in the frame.

Plenty more twists and turns to come yet however!
