'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sky Blue Season: October

A hard-fought local derby against Leicester opened the month and saw Sammy Clingan net City's goal with a delicious curling free-kick. Unfortunately, the Sky Blues' most impressive summer signing then limped off and his absence was to be keenly felt over the next few weeks.

City used the international break to seal a couple of signings in the shape of Chris Hussey and Gary Madine but the return to league action saw Chris Coleman's men fail to build on their solid start.

Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff City eased to home victories against the Sky Blues before a goalless draw against West Bromwich Albion.

That point against the Baggies however failed to provide a platform for better things as Reading ran out 3-1 victors in the final fixture of the month.

'We have a young disappointed dressing room who have never been in this position before and it will be up to the senior players, myself and my staff to pick them up,' said Coleman after the game.
