Westwood to lift Sky Blue gloom?

Keiren Westwood, once again the star performer of a disappointing season at the Ricoh Arena, has provided a rare bit of good news for Coventry Cty fans who have witnessed another lacklustre end to a Championship campaign.

Consistently linked with a move to the Premier League over recent months, the Ireland international has urged City to begin talks with him over a new contract.

'I'm talking to the club about a new deal. I love it here. It feels like home so I don't see why I should have to move on just yet,' he said.

'I still have a year left on my contract but I went to see the manager about what his plans were regarding myself.

'The gaffer said he got straight on the phone to the chairman about offering me a new deal. I have not heard anything since but I'm just waiting.'
