'If It's Football, It's Vital'

You kept us hanging on!

Both managers highlighted Coventry City's powerful second-half display at The Hawthorns on Wednesday night as the Sky Blues left the home of their Midlands rivals feeling a touch aggrieved at not returning home with at least a point.

'Tonight was a bit of a scrappy game but we managed to get the goal and put ourselves in front and then we battled, we defended our goal very dearly,' said home supremo Roberto Di Matteo after seeing his Baggies' side take a big step towards an automatic return to the Premier League.

'I think our legs were a little bit tired and Coventry had nothing to lose, they threw everything at us.'

For the visitors it means that play-off dreams are now all but over yet City fans left the ground in upbeat mood after again seeing their side more than match one of the division's best.

'West Brom were hanging on at the end,' was Chris Coleman's verdict.

'Second half we played very, very well and I felt we deserved at least a point from that.

'Honestly, I believe that if one of our chances had gone in, as we were the team with the momentum, then we would have got another one.'
