'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Match reaction

An injury-time penalty for the visitors was the obvious talking point after Coventry City's home game against Cardiff on Tuesday, Peter Whittingham stepping up to give the Bluebirds all three points at the Ricoh Arena.

'It's a little bit harsh the penalty for handball, but I felt he missed one earlier on,' said visiting boss Dave Jones.

'He actually missed Jay [Bothroyd] being tripped, so I felt it was a deserved win.'

Bothroyd himself added: 'He's put his hands up in the box so it can always be given but there was one before that, that was a definite penalty...and wasn't given.'

The former Coventry man added: 'That's football and I'm glad we got the rub of the green.

'It was a great win, we needed it.'

For the home side, manager Chris Coleman preferred to keep his counsel, asking number two Steve Harrison to do the media duties.

'From the bench, we obviously thought it [the penalty] was harsh,' was his verdict.

'If I'm proved wrong then I'm wrong but I thought he played it against him from possibly three feet away.'
