'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Coleman praises McIndoe efforts

Michael McIndoe arrived at Coventry City in the summer with a reputation as a tricky winger who would chip in with his fair share of goals for the club.

To that end the 30-year-old has disappointed Sky Blues' fans but despite some frustrating performances, the player has made himself a key part of Chris Coleman's system and earned praise from the boss for his workrate.

Providing balance on the left-hand side, McIndoe has put in his fair share of defensive work over the campaign, in which he has started 33 of City's 35 league games.

'There are times when he hasn't been playing well but he has kept his place because he has worked hard,' Coleman told the Coventry Telegraph this week.

All that's left is for McIndoe to chip in with a goal or two before the end of the season.

'In my 15 years as a player I have never gone 34 games without a goal,' he said.

'My goals to game ratio has got to be better and I'm hoping I get about six in one game so then I won't be asked the question anymore.'
