Arriving from Irish champions Bohemians at the beginning of January, Gary Deegan's 'Pit Bull' nickname made it clear that he was a midfielder of the 'combative' variety.

A host of other clubs were keen to sign the 22-year-old, including Ipswich.

Deegan made an immediate impression as a substitute against Barnsley and despite the step up from Irish Premier to Championship football has already made himself a part of Chris Coleman's first-team squad.
