Sky Blues still consistently inconsistent

Saturday's game against Ipswich Town at Portman Road marked the reverse fixtures of the opening weekend of the Championship, when two early goals gave the Sky Blues a live TV victory over Roy Keane's side, who had been tipped for promotion in many quarters.

This weekend of course there was late drama in Suffolk as the Blues responded to Richard Wood's injury-time equaliser with a late, late goal of their own.

Both teams however still look some distance away from mounting a challenge for a top-six finish, with the maddeningly inconsistent nature of the Sky Blues remaining to frustrate fans, seemingly regardless of who the manager is.

Building on Clinton Morrison's early goal on Saturday and making it five wins out of six would have seen City move to within four points of the play-offs but, whether you were in the away seats at the match, listening to CWR or watching Soccer Saturday, how many people really believed that would be the case?

For City it means eight away defeats, the same as bottom clubs Plymouth Argyle and Peterborough United, having lost early leads taken at Preston, Derby and now Ipswich.

For Chris Coleman, it seems, like many who have gone before him, that the biggest challenge is changing the perception of the club as being something of a soft touch.
