'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sunday's Sky Blue gossip

Sunday's transfer gossip involving Coventry City centres on Jack Cork and Elliott Ward.

Having returned to Chelsea last week following his loan spell at the Ricoh Arena, midfielder Cork could be farmed out again over the next few weeks.

Although City have expressed an interest in re-signing the player, QPR are also thought to be keen, their West London location possible better for both player and parent club.

The Sky Blues have since completed deals for both Gary Deegan and Carl Baker, leaving Chris Coleman with plenty of midfield options.

Southampton's interest in Elliott Ward meanwhile again makes the newspapers.

The centre-half is so far down the pecking order at City that he is almost out of sightbut an escape route to the South Coast may not be open just yet.

Saints boss Alan Pardew has this week clinched a permanent deal for Crystal Palace's Portuguese central defender Jose Fonte, reportedly paying out over £1m for the 26-year-old.

I think we could use a loan deal to strengthen up front now rather than bring Cork back
