Sky Blues to snap up League One star

Just days after confirming the signing of Gary Deegan from Bohemians, Coventry City look set to add another midfielder to their ranks once the transfer window opens.

Cash-strapped Stockport County have confirmed that Carl Baker is likely to join the Sky Blues in January after an excellent first-half of the season in which the 27-year-old has scored 12 goals despite playing in a struggling team that currently props up the League One table.

Edgeley Park boss Gary Ablett has said: 'Until the takeover happens, we will have to work with what we've got and people are coming in for our better players.

'It looks like we're going to lose Carl Baker to Coventry - it's disappointing but we've just got to get on with it.'

Goals from midfield have been lacking this season so if the lad can make the step up he sounds like a good signing
