Coventry City: Centre-half transfer latest

The future of present and potential Coventry City central defenders dominates the transfer talk surrounding the Ricoh Arena at present.

Sky Blues target Richard Wood looks to be approaching the end of his Sheffield Wednesday stay and according to reports on Tuesday morning, Sheffield United are interested in his services.

The Blades have suffered a host of injuries this season and are keen to strengthen in the heart of the defence.

As of Tuesday evening however it appears that CV6 will be Wood's destination, Wednesday having accepted a bid, believed to be from Coventry, with contract talks now underway.

With Wood seemingly ruling out a drop into League Two with Notts County, the affluent Meadow Lane club are reportedly set to switch their attention to Elliott Ward as they continue their search for a replacement for Sol Campbell, whose high-profile stint at the club lasted just one game.
