'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The West Brom view

Having arrived to the Ricoh Arena on top of the table but somewhat out of form, West Brom left CV6 still handily-placed in the league but with only one point and more questions than answers for manager Roberto Di Matteo.

Neither side created much in the way of clear-cut chances during the game, a situation that suited Coventry more given the manner of their defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff.

'We just missed that cutting edge in front of goal today, with a bit of luck sometimes you get a deflection or something going for you,' said Di Matteo afterwards.

'We want to win games and at the moment we're not winning as many games as we'd like.'

Referee Keith Stroud meanwhile came under fire from the Italian for booking Jerome Thomas rather than awarding the winger a penalty after his clash with Martin Cranie.

'It was a clear penalty,' fumed the Baggies boss.

'I've seen a replay and he touched Thomas.'
