'If It's Football, It's Vital'

How they saw it

'It seems like we have to score two or three goals to win a game but we are not doing that and we have only kept two clean sheets,' admitted Chris Coleman after seeing Coventry City brushed aside by Cardiff City on Tuesday night.

The Sky Blues have now conceded 20 times in their 13 league games, a problem compounded by the drying up of goals at the other end, with just Sammy Clingan's strike against Leicester in the credit column over the past three fixtures.

Cardiff meanwhile are moving in the right direction towards the automatic promotion places and their manager Dave Jones enjoyed a relatively easy night on the sidelines.

'It was a solid, no-nonsense, keep the percentages right performance from us,' he said, after goals from Anthony Gerrard and Peter Whittingham sealed the points.

For the Sky Blues, what was a run of one defeat in six games prior to the international break now reads as just two league wins in eleven fixtures, making Saturday's clash with West Brom at the Ricoh Arena an increasingly important match.
