Hughes an Ipswich target?
Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle has been linked with a swoop for Coventry City's Stephen Hughes by local press reports in Suffolk on Thursday.
Royle is keen to make a new signing within weeks of the season end and the names of Hughes, Stephane Henchoz and Ricardo Fuller are thought to be high on his wanted list.
29-year-old Hughes made a big impact after joining Coventry in the summer of 2004, reviving a career that had been frustrated by injury problems.
He signed a new contract prior to the current campaign, but was sent off early on against Burnley and then was sidelined for much of the season through injury.
City performed well in his absence and it remains to be seen whether Micky Adams decides that Hughes does not fit into his preferred style of play, and looks to cash in by offloading the ex-Arsenal man.
