Deepdale boss looks for quick reaction

Deepdale boss looks for quick reaction

Coventry City travel to Deepdale on Saturday, buoyed by an excellent win over Sheffield United and facing a Preston side who suffered their first league defeat of the season against Scunthorpe in midweek.

That loss, coupled with the sale of Sean St Ledger to Middlesbrough has made for a downbeat mood at North End but manager Alan Irvine is hoping for a quick reaction from his side.

'The lads have made a good start to the season and I suppose I would have settled for one defeat in nine games if someone had told me that before we kicked a ball,' he told the Lancashire Evening Post.

'What is important is how you respond to a defeat and we have to make sure we put things right, get back to winning ways.'

Last season's fixture ended in a 2-1 win for the home side despite Clinton Morrison opening the scoring for City.
