'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sky Blues latest

Aron Gunnarsson is on international duty this week as Iceland face Norway in a World Cup qualifier.

The midfielder has been brutally honest in his assessment of his performances for the Sky Blues to date this season.

He told the Coventry Telegraph: 'I'm finding it hard this year. I'm playing in a different position, a bit more forward, and I thought I could do well there but obviously I can't because I'm not performing.

'I know that, the fans know that, everybody knows that - I was disgraceful against Swansea and although I thought I was slightly better against Blackpool, it still wasn't really there.'

Keiren Westwood, Leon Best and Sammy Clingan are also all in action on the road to South Africa 2010.

England's Under-21 team meanwhile will return to the Ricoh Arena for a European Championship qualifier against Macedonia on October 9.

Stadium chiefs hope the fixture will be another step towards hosting Olympic football in 2012.

After the international break, the Sky Blues host Bristol City at home in the Championship.

The Robins were busy on transfer deadline day, snapping up Costa Rica striker Alvaro Saborio and Dutch midfielder Evander Sno on loan for the rest of the season.
