'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sky Blues round-up

Kevin Thornton has put pen to paper on a new Coventry City contract.

The promising young midfielder, linked recently with a move to the Premiership, has signed a two-year contract.

Ben Turner and Ryan Lynch have also signed new deals but fellow youngsters Liam Davis and Andrew Gooding have turned down contract offers.

'It is a surprise and it is always disappointing when youngsters turn down contracts but they have got agents, in fact they share the same agent, who sees their futures elsewhere,' said boss Micky Adams.

'We will retain compensation rights on them because we have looked after them since the age of nine and we hope that people will consider all the time, effort and money we have spent on them.'

...Meanwhile City will play two pre-season games in the USA this summer.

They will meet Portland Timbers on July 8 and Brigham Young University Cougars in Salt Lake City four days later.

...The Sky Blues reserves came up against a strong Arsenal side on Wednesday and were beaten 4-0.

Ashley Cole played 90 minutes for the Gunners as he attempts to comeback from injury and make this summer's World Cup.
