A-Z of Coventry City transfers: Q for Quinn

Seeing his team's bright start to the 1992/93 season beginning to fade out, Sky Blues boss Bobby Gould decided to sign on loan, a slightly overweight striker from a lower division who had fallen out of favour with his manager.

Micky Quinn was the player and the move turned out to be a stroke of genius. Quinn netted within minutes of his debut against Manchester City and kept on scoring (unusually for a City loanee) even after he signed permanently.

The highlights of that season were Quinn's braces against Liverpool in a 5-1 home win, Aston Villa in a 3-0 Boxing Day triumph and Blackburn in a stunning 5-2 romp at Ewood Park.

Unfortunately the sale of strike partner Robert Rosario had a big impact and although Quinn started the following season with a hat-trick at Highbury, the high water mark of his City career had been and gone.
