Championship 2009/10: Newcastle United

Recent record: This season will see the first league meeting at this level between the two clubs since 1965.

Newcastle have already visited the Ricoh Arena however, winning an exciting League Cup tie 3-2 last season when Kevin Keegan was still in charge.

Former Sky Blues: Ex-Ricoh Arena boss Iain Dowie ended last season as number two to Alan Shearer but amid the current confusion at St James' Park no-one is quite sure if he will be back in 2009/10.

Summer talking point: The ongoing shambles at the top as Mike Ashley looks to sell up and the Shearer saga, with the Geordie legend yet to be confirmed as manager for the coming season, leaving perennial caretaker Chris Hughton in charge of pre-season training.

Coming to Coventry: For a midweek clash early in December.
