Striker declares City interest
A source 'close to' Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford has been quoted as saying, rather loftily, that Coventry City's interest in the player has been welcomed.
'Jermaine considers Coventry to be a club that is going places,' says the insider.
'It has a good stadium, good crowds, a good owner and good manager so everything is there.
'He considers it to be a top end Championship club.'
With no declared interest from the Premier League to date and the situation at Newcastle precluding any offer from there, it may be that Beckford is being forced to slightly downgrade his ambitions for the summer, hence this slightly over-the-top declaration about City's status!
