Championship: Latest transfer gossip

The Championship rumour mill is in full swing after the end of the regular season and a host of clubs are being linked with new signings and making way in their squads by freeing players.

Barnsley: Four players have been let go by the Tykes, Dennis Souza, Kyle Letheren, Diego Leon and Marciano Van Homoet, while manager Simon Davey is under pressure for his job after a narrow escape from relegation.

Blackpool: The Seasiders want permanent deals for loan stars DJ Campbell (Leicester) and Charlie Adam (Rangers).

Bristol City: Izzy Iriekpen will be offered a new long-term deal after impressing since signing from Scunthorpe in January on a contract until the end of the season.

Crystal Palace: Danny Webber of Sheffield United and Birmingham City's Gary McSheffrey are being tipped as potential signings for Eagles boss Neil Warnock.

Derby County: Manager Nigel Clough wants to trim his squad down from 39 pros to 23 or 24 for next season and has been linked with moves for Lee Croft (Norwich City) and Rotherham striker Reuben Reid.

Doncaster Rovers: Gordon Greer and Jason Price are among five players freed by boss Sean O'Driscoll.

Ipswich Town: Defender Alex Bruce is keen to stay at Portman Road after the arrival of Roy Keane as manager but wants a better contract offer.

Ah McSheffrey is the Championship's forgotton man and this has to be the summer when he is on the move. As for the releases, I am surprised by Diego Leon's departure from Oakwell - a really creative player sorely missed by Barnsley this season.
