'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hoddle defiant ahead of City visit

Coventry City travel to Wolves at the weekend looking to avoid finishing an encouraging season on a lacklustre note after two successive defeats.

Manager Micky Adams has pledged that his side will keep battling to the end of the season, with contracts up for grabs for the likes of Marcus Hall and Don Hutchison, and places in the City squad next season also at stake for a number of other players.

The Sky Blues may benefit from the gloom currently surrounding Saturday's opponents Wolves.

Defeats at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth have all but ended their play-off hopes, and heaped pressure on manager Glenn Hoddle after a frustrating campaign.

The ex-England boss has vowed not to give up on a top-six finish, saying: 'Too many things have happened to me in football to suggest this is over.

'I've managed a team that were 4-1 down with 20 minutes to go and won 6-4.

'I've managed teams that were 3-0 up at half time and lost 4-3 and 5-3. I've seen people catch people and others get nervous.

'The only big downside at the moment is that the pressure has been relieved on Preston and that's our own fault - we've only got ourselves to blame over the last two games.'
