Championship: latest deadline news

Championship clubs have until 5pm on Monday to add to their squads on a permanent basis, although the loan window will re-open after a short pause for breath.

Plenty of clubs, at the top and bottom of the league are after new signings and here's a round-up of the latest stories.

Barnsley: The Tykes look to have abandoned their interest in Sky Blues striker Michael Mifsud due to his wage demands.

Birmingham City: Doncaster defender Matt Mills (a former Sky Blues loanee) is a 1.5m target for Blues.

Burnley: Boss Owen Coyle wants a new defender and is also hoping to offload Gabor Kiraly (to Bayer Leverkusen) and Ade Akinbiyi, who is wanted in Qatar.

Charlton Athletic: Dutch striker Collins John is set for a trial at The Valley while Tottenham defender Chris Gunter is a loan target.

Derby County: Chris Porter has completed a 400,000 move from Motherwell, choosing the Rams over Cardiff City.

Doncaster Rovers: Striker Dean Shiels is on his way to the Keepmoat Stadium from SPL side Hibernian.

Norwich City: Manager Bryan Gunn has been busy, signing striker Chris Killen on loan from Celtic and making enquiries about Rangers man Alan Gow.

Nottingham Forest: Hibernian stopper Rob Jones is a target for City Ground boss Billy Davies.

Sheffield United: Watford midfielder John Joe O'Toole is being linked with a move to Bramall Lane.

Southampton: The Saints will resist any offer from Swansea to make Nathan Dyer's loan spell a permanent arrangement.

Watford: Inverness midfielder Don Cowie is poised to join the Hornets in January, after earlier signing a pre-contract deal for the summer.

Wolverhampton Wanderers: Christophe Berra could make his Wolves debut against the Sky Blues next weekend following a 2.3m move from Hearts.
