'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A farewell goal from Michael Mifsud?

Michael Mifsud netted the winner for Coventry City against Blackpool on Saturday to end a week in which he came close to finally leaving the Ricoh Arena.

"We have had talks with a club, although not agreed anything with anyone, so Michael will be ready to play for us again today against Blackpool unless something dramatic happens," Chris Coleman had told the Coventry Telegraph prior to the game.

"In our current situation we need players but if we were to lose Michael and it was good money for the club then I would say 'let`s do it.`

'Don`t forget, if Michael agrees a contract with another club and we say 'no` we are going to be left with a very unhappy player.

"That`s not to say we are going to let him go for nothing. He has got a price and if we can invest that money in someone else then we should do that.'

Having come close to joining Bristol City in the summer, Mifsud has managed to force his way back into the first-team picture since being told he would not feature by Coleman.

His departure at this stage however would represent sound business, given the imminent end of his contract.

His current record in a Sky Blue shirt reads 23 goals from 93 appearances, including of course those strikes against Manchester United and Blackburn.
