Palace play down swoop for City target

Palace play down swoop for City target

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has dismissed reports from Thursday morning suggesting he wanted to sign Birmingham City forward Gary McSheffrey on loan.

'I was after him a couple of years ago before he went to Birmingham but he's been injured all season,' he told the South London Press.

Warnock added, on www.southlondon-today.co.uk: 'There's no way I am signing him.'

The Sky Blues have also been linked with a move to re-sign their former star, boss Chris Coleman admitting before Christmas that McSheffrey was on his list of targets.

The player may find himself back in favour at Birmingham City however after the departure of Quincy and a failed move to land Rangers striker Kris Boyd.
