Championship: transfer window latest (2)

New Year's Day signals the opening of the transfer window and with the credit crunch biting, will Championship clubs be active in the market or will their top stars be picked off by Premier League teams switching thair attention to home-grown talent?

Crystal Palace: A return to Selhurst Park for loan star Craig Beattie is unlikely after he forced his way back into the West Brom side over Christmas.

Derby County: Caretaker boss Chris Hutchings has extended the loan stay of Arsenal youngster Nacer Barazite.

Doncaster Rovers: Star midfielder Brian Stock continues to be linked with a move to the top-flight.

Ipswich Town: Former favourite Hermann Hreidarsson is being linked with a move back to Portman Road.

Norwich City: Veteran defender Christian Dailly could be brought in to help the Canaries fight against relegation.

Nottingham Forest: Billy Davies is set to be new man in charge at the City Ground and will want to make some immediate signings.

Plymouth Argyle: Manchester United defender David Gray is on his way to Home Park on loan.

Preston North End: A permanent deal for Sunderland winger Ross Wallace is the top priority for Deepdale boss Alan Irvine.
