New Year's Day signals the opening of the transfer window and with the credit crunch biting, will Championship clubs be active in the market or will their top stars be picked off by Premier League teams switching thair attention to home-grown talent?

Barnsley: The Tykes want a striker and will surely pursue a permanent deal for Norwich City loanee Jamie Cureton after his impressive festive period.

Birmingham City: Alex McLeish has lost the servives of right-back Nicky Hunt after his recall to the Bolton squad.

Blackpool: The Seasiders want to sign Alan Gow from Rangers on a permanent deal after his successful loan spell.

Bristol City: Midfielder Marvin Elliott is being linked with a £2m move to the top-flight.

Burnley: The Clarets also want Blackpool target Gow.

Cardiff City: Keeping loan winger Wayne Routledge is a top priority for boss Dave Jones.

Charlton Athletic: Midfielder Darren Ambrose is back at The Valley after his loan spell with Ipswich.

Coventry City: The Sky Blues will be looking to sign James McPake from Livingston ahead of the summer while Kevin Kyle is again being linked with a move to Major League Soccer.
