Transfer Advent Calendar update: Robbie Keane

The transfer window opens in 12 days time and Vital Coventry is bringing you a new rumour everyday until Christmas Eve concerning Sky Blues past and present or potential new signings.

20th December: On the first day of December we opened the transfer advent calendar and wrote the following; 'Robbie Keane's 20m move from Tottenham to Liverpool in the summer meant that the Irishman has been bought and sold for a total of 58m in his career to date.

'For that price however, Anfield fans will have been expecting a bigger goal tally from the former Coventry City man and speculation is beginning as to how much longer he will last on Merseyside.'

Much has happened since then, all of it pointing to a move away from Anfield in January.

Keane has yet to find his scoring boots, was not called from the bench by Rafa Benitez when a goal was needed against Hull City recently and has also been tipped for a move by BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson, who let slip what he heard (or thought he heard) at a function when chatting to Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard.

A return to Tottenham looks most likely for Keane but ambitious Aston Villa may also try and land the Irishman.
