Transfer Advent Calendar 16th Dec: Will Buckley

The transfer window opens in 16 days and Vital Coventry is bringing you a new rumour everyday concerning Sky Blues past and present or potential new signings.

16th December: Coventry City kept their transfer focus firmly on the lower league last January, snapping up Daniel Fox and Scott Dann from Walsall in deals that have more than paid their way for the club.

The upcoming window is likely to see the same transfer policy being followed, with Will Buckley of Rochdale a reported target.

One start and six substitute appearances in 2007/08 flagged up Buckley's potential and Rochdale tied him down to a new contract in the summer.

'It was paramount we nailed him to a contract because, if we're going to give him his opportunity, we don't want anyone coming along and picking our pocket,' said manager Keith Hill at the time.

Buckley's opportunity has now come and with five goals to his name so far this season, the jungle drums are beating at both Championship and Premier League level, with the Sky Blues, Blackburn and Bolton all being linked with a deal.
