'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Transfer Advent Calendar 8th Dec: Gary Caldwell

The transfer window opens in 24 days and Vital Coventry is bringing you a new rumour everyday concerning Sky Blues past and present or potential new signings.

8th December: Gary Caldwell has become a mainstay of the Celtic defence since moving from Hibernian in the summer of 2006 and has amassed a healthy haul of medals in the
process.

Now the 26-year-old Scotland international is in the process of negotiating a new Bhoys contract that will tie him to the club until 2014.

'It's always been my aim to stay at Celtic,' Caldwell told the Daily Record.

'I've said that to the manager, to (chief executive) Peter (Lawwell) and my agent has said that. It is up to them to sort that out.

'There are a lot of players on long-term contracts and the club can grow together and be more successful.'

Caldwell, who came through the ranks at Newcastle United, made 41 appearances for Coventry City during a season-long loan spell in the 2002/03 campaign.
