Coventry City target signs new Owls deal

Sheffield Wednesday captain Richard Wood has extended his Hillsborough contract by a further season.

A confirmed Coventry City target, central defender Wood handed in a transfer request earlier in the season after interest from the Sky Blues.

'They are going nowhere,' boss Brian Laws said after agreeing deals with Wood and Tommy Spurr.

'We are looking for the futures of Richard, Tommy and Mark Beevers to be secured for as long as possible.'

To be accurate, the Owls had an option for another year on Woody's contract, which they chose to take up.
