Carry on blasting, Coleman tells Ward

Carry on blasting, Coleman tells Ward

Elliott Ward will continue to be Coventry City's penalty taker if he wants the job.

After firing wide against Sheffield United earlier in the season, Ward tried a cheeky chip against Southampton recently, only for the ball to drop tamely into the arms of the goalkeeper.

Chris Coleman told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire however: 'If I were to say, 'Elliot, you're off penalties', for me that is letting him off.

'He's a big boy and a strong character and can look after himself.

'If we get a penalty I'm sure he'll stick it in the back of the net.'
