Small steps for Sky Blues

Coventry City lie in a handy sixth place in the Championship ahead of next weekend's return to action after a solid start to the campaign.

Any improvement on last season's last-gasp scrape with relegation will be welcomed of course and it does seem as though the Sky Blues are very slowly becoming more of a force to be reckoned with.

In Chris Coleman they have a well-respected manager, popular with the media and an attractive figurehead for the club.

His signings have been good quality players with time on their side and a hunger to improve.

Off-the-pitch meanwhile, despite plenty of problems with issues such as season tickets, there have been better communications with fans and recently, some positive developments.

The club's training ground has undergone a £500,000 facelift, with chairman Ray Ranson telling the Coventry Telegraph: 'The work undertaken has resulted in massive improvement at the Sky Blue Lodge.

'We have had some fantastic feedback from the players and staff.'

The decision to open new ticket outlets in the city centre meanwhile is also good news.

Small steps, on and off the pitch, but they are adding up to a brighter picture for City fans.

It is approaching one year since the club's precarious financial position became the stuff of nightmares, amid talk of administration or worse and the current position is one which few thought we would be in 12 months on.
