Stokes an unlikely Coventry target

Sunday newspaper reports suggested 2m Anthony Stokes was a loan target for Coventry City.

The Sunderland man faces intense competition for a place in Roy Keane's attack and is likely to make a temporary exit.

Although a number of Championship clubs would be interested in the former Arsenal youngster, Chris Coleman has little need to strengthen up front at present.

The Sky Blues boss had the luxury of resting Clinton Morrison on Saturday and saw his replacement Leon Best net one of City's four goals.

With Freddy Eastwood improving game-by-game, Leon McKenzie, Michael Mifsud and Robbie Simpson, the striking positions are well catered for at the Ricoh Arena.
