Cov v PNE key battle: A tale of two SPL signings

Preston North End are the visitors to the Ricoh Arena on Saturday and one of the key battles in the game will be that between two summer signings from the SPL.

Former Aberdeen star Barry Nicholson has been a big hit for Preston during their unbeaten start to the campaign.

'The one worry you might have with someone of Barry's stature is whether the Championship will blow them away,' manager Alan Irvine told the Lancashire Evening Post.

'But it hasn't blown him away, far from it.

'His intelligence and his understanding of the game mean he can cope with it without any problem.'

Nicholson will renew acquaintances with Guillaume Beuzelin on Saturday and it has been a more mixed start to the season for the Sky Blues capture from Hibernian.

Undoubtedly classy at times, Beuzelin has found the Championship tough going, losing posession in key areas on too many occasions.

Signed as the man around which Chris Coleman wants to build his side, the Frenchman will be expected to deliver more in the coming weeks.
